Kickstarter Day One

Today I’ve launched a Kickstarter campaign to produce a 200 page A5 hardback book celebrating 10 years of my visual diary project.
All the important information can be seen on the Kickstarter page here. The wonderful short film at the top of the page, directed by Nic de Jesus, is a great place to start.

If you want to help me with this campaign, there are two ways you can make a difference.
1) Make a donation.
This is a 30 day ‘all or nothing’ campaign - meaning that if I fail to reach my £7000 funding target, no-one’s cards will be charged. This makes it a risk free investment for backers.
My appeal page features a number of really sweet rewards, across a big scale of differing budgets from £3-£400. There’s the opportunity to have your name listed in the credits page of the book, and also to pre-order it at a cheaper price than it will be sold in shops.
2) Spread the word. The more people who know about this, the more opportunities I will have to reach my funding goal, it’s as simple as that.

I’ll be writing a few more blogposts over the next 30 days to update you on the progress of this campaign, and also to reflect on a decade of my visual diary. Watch this space….

Simple Things

In my monthly 'Miscellany' slot for The Simple Things magazine, I've lately been showing the world the sheer variety of weird and wonderful ways that exist to tie your humble shoelaces.

Whilst also keeping readers abreast of a range of practical garden skills, from how to train climbing roses on a trellis...

To how to protect your plants from the frost...

Via the correct way to take and grow a hardwood cutting....

And even what to do if you find an injured hedgehog.

January Update

I’m back in the land of the living, after a few months of relative insanity.
Lately I’ve been contending with extremely busy times at work, plus sorting out the content for my Diary Book. Most things in my life were forced to go on pause for the last couple of months as I chased work deadlines by day then spent evenings and weekends sifting through and editing my enormous archive of 1000+ diary sketches. It’s been the ultimate obsessive compulsive labour of love. Choosing 200 images for the book was a slow, contemplative process. Every selected page then had to be re-scanned and tidied, before being edited into a (somewhat) coherent book form. I constructed the flatplan of the book in completely analogue fashion… Picture me, if you will, spreading hundreds of computer printouts on the floor of my flat each evening, trying to find the essence of this ten year project. Yesterday I delivered the hi-res artworks and completed flatplan of the book to my designers, The Entente, in London. There is still a huge amount of work to be done before the book is released (hopefully at the tail end of 2014), but it’s a great relief to move onto the next stage...
